With it’s debut in 1997, the General Motors Gen-III Small-Block nicknamed “LS” came out swinging, with the iron-block versions in trucks and the all-aluminum LS1 introduced in the then-new Corvette.  GM has continued to refine to its modern V-8 engine family as Gen III and Gen IV, with the aftermarket and enthusiast grasping to its tremendous power potential and durability.

The Gen-V version of the LS has been named the LT and features the same deep skirt cylinder block design, but features direct injection and enhanced oiling features. With power options available from 500 to north of 1000hp in factory form, the LT is sure to usher in a new era of historic GM engines.

Our precision machined billet case gear reductions are perfect matches for the LS and LT platform and were designed to be the strongest reduction drive alive. We have been very fortunate to put our Ballistic Drives in some very capable rigs, from severed duty work boats to high horsepower race boats the Ballistic has handled the demand. Our gears are CNC machined from 9310 billet steel and then case hardened to 62Rc. Gear sets are then ground and finish polished to AGMA Class 12 standards for smooth, quiet operation. With ratios ranging from 1.3 all the way to 2.9, we’re sure to have a ratio that will put you in the “sweet spot” of your engine and propeller combination.
