"In 2014 DynaMarine built me a 15ft 6 passenger New Gen III 426 ci Hemi powered airboat. I opted to use the Ballistic gearbox, as it definitely the most bad ass looking box out there. "When building my first airboat, I mostly followed the direction of a friend with similar interests and purchased a gear box from a competitor of Ballistic. I sent the box to my boat builder to install and I was looking forward to great news on how my new rig was performing, but instead I got a call from the builder with very bad news. The brand new gearbox didn't make it through the initial water test! I tried to get it fixed by the manufacturer, but with no luck. "I called up Ballistic to order a box, and they not only had the ratio I wanted in stock, they had it in anodized color options as well . . . also in stock and ready to go. When I received my box I gave it a good look over and the quality and craftsmanship are beyond belief. I rotated it by hand was shocked at how smooth it spun! I have hand-spun a lot of Stingers and Rotators, and I have NEVER felt one even close to being as smooth to spin as the Ballistic box. I now have 3 hours on it and I can honestly say this box is VERY QUIET.
Here is a short video we shot recently at Hotdog Island. While there, we had a couple guys come up. Their very first words were 'what gearbox is on that? It's so quiet we thought it was a direct drive!' To me that says it's pretty quiet. Now if you ask the boys at Ballistic, they will tell you that (per their design) the box makes some noise. But if you ask me, you have to listen really close to hear ANYTHING. I would say, without a doubt, that the Ballistic box is quieter than any cast box I've ever heard."
